Are the daily emails only for paid subscribers this year? I've had the free subscription to this newsletter for several years now, and have always been able to read the daily emails, but today's email says "subscribers only"
If you're a subscriber to Craft Talk--paid or free--you'll be getting those letters for free in your inbox every morning. In the evening it becomes paywalled. You, I think, are only subscribing to me personally as opposed to the newsletter itself so you'll have to look for it in the morning or subscribe for $8 for the month. (All of which goes to charity.)
Hi Jami, this is Diana from Portugal. I will try to keep up with the 1000 words per day, but I do have two little amazing girls here, streching my time and attention 🥰 so, I'm not sure I will be able to do the all 1000 words, but somehow some thing I Will definetly write. 🙏
Your call to be both gentle and tough during #1000wordsofsummer resonated. As a dancer-turned-writer, I’ve learned that consistency and kindness to oneself are both essential to sustaining momentum.
I've attempted to do this every year but I am going to do my best to actually make it stick for the two weeks. I'll have a little bit of a challenge at the very beginning because I have a four day commitment that's going to eat a chunk of my time but I'm committed to making progress on my book and a nudge is always good.
Last year I missed out. This year I was paying attention. The end of May isn't quite Summer in my world AND I love how this daily writing of 1000 words propels me into intentionally writing. THANK YOU!
I'm a teacher. School is out in two days. I'm ready. And I'm so thankful you had educators in mind when you first launched this. Teacher Breaks are when I get most of my creative projects done.
Oh you know I'm always fixing up the letters last minute so I wouldn't count on a specific time. Usually around 6 or 7, occasionally there's an 8 in there. But of course you don't need the letters to get going with your work!
It will be my 3rd year. Subscribing all year long is worth it and reading the book is always its own resource and reward. Slack is great and I’m so glad to have the community and scaffolding of deadlines! LET’S GO!
Hey Jami (or anyone else who knows the answer) , after reading this post I'm confused on one thing: is 1000words happening here on Substack or Slack? Or both? I'm a paid Subtrack subscriber and not clear if now I also need to subscribe to Slack. Apologies if I missed this in the post :)
In terms of community, Many more people participate on the Slack! I will be checking comments here on the substack as well but the biggest, most regular gathering is on the slack. It exists because it's a more efficient way to chat with people in a more centralized location. (The slack is free.) The letters come from the substack, though.
Is there a new slack link? The one in the FAQs doesn't work for me... Thank you in advance!
Just updated it in the post!

I’m traveling in Spain, so writing may be challenging. But the sensual adventures of a new world will spark my imagination.

I'm so glad you're in, Kellea! <3 teachers!
I feel I should know the answer, but obviously do not: What time (your NOLA time zone) do the letters go out, Jami?
(This year I am trying to organize myself and my writing time differently over here on the other side of the world. 🤞🏻)

True, but it's nice to know when I can expect a little treat.
:)

I really love the idea of the Scholastic Book Fair!
VERY excited. 🙌🏻
