Hi Friends.
I’m delighted to announce there will be a day of events in New York City to launch #1000wordsofsummer this year.
For Part 1 of the day, I am thrilled to be partnering with the wonderful people at the New York Public Library! There will be an free in-person talk and write-along at the beautiful Hudson Park Library in Manhattan. This event, which runs from 11 AM - 12:30 PM EST, will also be live-streaming on zoom, so no matter where you are, you can join in with us. I am so, so grateful to the NYPL for hosting this event and, of course, always supporting books and readers and their community. Libraries are the greatest.
You can learn more details and reserve your spot for this event by clicking here.
It is limited to 100 people in-person, and all ages are welcome. If you don’t manage to get a ticket, I will mention there is a sweet little park nearby and also additional seating in the library outside of the event space. So if you want to just get out of the house and come hang out and write somewhere new, it might be a great way to kick off your summer of writing.
Part 2 of the day will be a free happy hour/write-along at 3 pm at the gorgeous St. Mazie Bar & Supper Club in Williamsburg. (Longtime readers will know this bar is named after the real Mazie that I wrote about in my book Saint Mazie!) I am so appreciative to them for letting us come and write in their space. Please buy a fancy cocktail and tip your bartender.
You can register for it here.
This will be 21+. There is limited seating for this as well. I am hoping this will be just a nice casual time for everyone to connect in person and we can do a little writing together, too.
There will be books for sale at both events or you can order a copy from our friends at Books are Magic—I will be popping by there a few days before the launch and will happily personalize one for you, and it will ship on June 1. (You can also obviously order a copy now from anywhere books are sold.)
This is my first time launching the summer event in person and I’m excited but also a little nervous because I want everyone to get what they need out of it. But I’ve really enjoyed the write-alongs we’ve been doing together on this tour and I just want to spread those good vibes a little longer. I know this is going to be a productive, inspiring and fun day.
Hope to see you out there!
Jami
You are reading Craft Talk, the home of #1000wordsofsummer and also a weekly newsletter about writing from Jami Attenberg. I’m also on twitter and instagram.
OK it looks like all the seats are booked. But we will probably open a few more tickets as we get closer to the day as people's schedules change and shift. Keep an eye out! And thanks for your enthusiasm!
This is a good goalpost for me to get ready for 😅
