The Whoville Puppy Distribution System hath spoken. (That any of us has a choice in such things is merely an illusion.) Congratulations to the three of you!
Hi! Adorable doggie! Do both of your dogs get along? I would love to get another dog but I live in NYC and the vets are soooo expensive here. It's crazy! My dog, Kiki, had a small mast cell tumor on her leg and the bill was twice as much as my maintenance!
I’m currently fostering a 15 lb Maine Coon mix cat. She was going to be euthanized because she started biting the previous owner. The woman had to have surgery because the bite got infected. Come to find out, Baby has poor eyesight and is declawed (hence the biting behavior). She also is terrified of ceiling fans. I will always call her my foster cat, but she has definitely claimed and adopted my husband and I as her people. She feels safer now, but I don’t sit in her room without shoes! 🤣
My pandemic lockdown foster fail, Louise, was so dear to me. She'd actually had two other people take her on a test run for adoption, and even though I cried every time it happened, I didn't realize I'd be adopting her until the second person brought her back. What was wrong with these people that they could not see what an incredible soul she was? She passed away three years ago--she was probably around eight or nine when I adopted her, and she had a severe heart murmur that led to heart failure, but she knew she was loved to pieces. I still miss her so much.
Not necessarily a foster fail because we brought him home for a trial run, but when I tell people about my dog, Dill Pickles, I always say that we brought him home for a two-week trial and he never left.
Popping in not on foster fails (I support them, obviously), but on Jami's workshop to say you should 100% take it (or- at the least- watch the recording), even if you, up until now, have only piddled around with doing some tippy-tapping on your computer. If you are here, you know Jami is a DREAM, but trust me (I was in Key West), she is somehow even more of a delight live-in-person. I've honestly thought about things she said every day since (and I am kind of a monster as a student, so MAGICIAN, I'm telling you, don't miss your chance).
My foster fail (Coco) is curled up sleeping between my outstretched legs right now, past my knees, allowing my lap for my laptop. After fostering 3 dogs and falling in love with each, we grabbed her after one day of fostering before they opened her up to applications. Our other dog, Moonie, was straight to adoption without fostering. We got him first and fostered while working up the nerve to be a 2-dog family in a 1-bedroom lower Manhattan apartment. No regrets.
I've never fostered, knowing I would fail, so just went straight to adoption 😂 My current rescue dog is Luna Bear, a 6 year old Great Pyrenees mix we've had for almost 8 months. My previous dog was Coco Pants, a super mutt according to her DNA test, who we adopted from the same local rescue when she was 5. Rescue doggos are the best ❤️
The two accidental cats in me sees and honors the two accidental dogs in you. Namaste
I want to have all 3 of you over for dinner the next time I’m in town.
