Hi friends.
I’m throwing a party in New Orleans for Kristen Arnett and her new wonderful novel Stop Me If You’ve Heard This One. She will be joined by our pal Isaac Fitzgerald at glorious neighborhood establishment BJ’s Lounge. Books will be sold by local indie heroes Blue Cypress Books. This will happen on March 22. Free, but I’d RSVP if I were you.
Why do I throw book parties for my friends? Because I love them and I believe in their books but also because I want to bring people together. That’s when the good stuff happens: fun times, a little carousing here and there, but also community-building, idea-sharing, and just general connection in this vast and lonely universe. Which we need. To connect.
In fact, just the other day I had a good chat with a friend about writing and what happens when our work approaches us at unexpected times and forces us to reckon with it.
