Hi friends.
I am moving to a new home in the neighborhood in a week or so which might seem sudden. (Although not so sudden if you know me irl.) But anyway it is happening very quickly and it is bringing up thoughts of the last time I packed up a home, which would have been nearly nine years ago in Brooklyn, NY.
Then, I was packing up an apartment I had lived in for fourteen years. Things felt more dramatic in New York. I was moving from state to state, for starters. Now I’m just moving half a mile away—all my possessions will be relocated in half a day.
Back then I was trying to figure out what the rest of my life was going to look like. This transition is less of a huge life change and more of a lateral move, but with a beat-up backyard shack that could maybe be a writing studio someday.
But still, there is packing to be done. And there are so many books to be put in boxes. And more than anything, I have been stressing about those books.
