I love this sentiment and a pen as thank you gift - what a great idea! I almost exclusively write with Pilot Precise V5 Extra Fine. It’s just the perfect weight and glide for me! Looking forward to the mini!

I was actually sad on January 1 when I realized I could have switched entirely into my new planner/ notebook on December 29, because the daily pages started then. I’ve been VERY happy to learn that this new notebook/planner takes gel pens as well as Sharpie pens (not markers) without ghosting.

All of which is to say YAY PENS. And notebooks/planners/.

I am a pen and paper addict, obsessive, aficionado? What's the right word? Any, or all three, depending on the day! I love a Kaweco and Lamy Safari. They're my go-to pens, ever since my friend turned me on to fountain pens.

Oh please do not get me started on pens. Or notebooks. As I have said many times: “Me, to my wife as she asks ‘how many notebooks can you have?’ - me: ‘one more’” - feel free to replace the word “notebooks” with “pens”.

I have the Sarasa pack you just bought. They’ve quickly become my favourite. The smooth flow feels like perfection. I’m obsessed. ❤️

I’ve been handwriting this year and seriously relate to what you said about being loose and free with it. Mine is very messy (and I let little girl me use different colored pens and doodles, whatever she wants) and I’ve come love it and write and write with no pauses in a way I can’t on the computer. If I don’t know something I just make a note to ‘find the right word’ ‘research this’, etc. I put stickies in it reminding me what I’d hoped to achieve, where a passage was “really” going. Its the messiest of drafts but there’s a freedom off screen to be messy and also confidence once I see pages and pages then journals start stacking up (and I think I’ll be able to sort it all out when I come back for draft two? 🤣🤔).

All this to say - good luck with your pens and handwriting and freedom - thank you for sharing.

My current favorite pen is the Precise V7. Besides loving the way it feels in my hand and the way it writes, I love that I can buy refills for it. A bouquet of these pens and a bunch of refills makes me feel like a rich woman. Also, I just finished my current journal this morning and I'm going out on a mission today to find a new, beautiful journal to begin the New Year. I loved this inspiring post!

I came here to attempt to force everyone to try TUL pens. I know that Step One is that I’m powerless over what pens you may choose, but my recovery is yet not solid enough yet to prevent me from strongly suggesting them. I like the 0.5 needlepoint.

A fellow writer turned me on to Paper Mate's InkJoy. Cheap enough to have handfuls everywhere, in all the purses and every room of the house, and I have started essays, stories, and novels in every room of the house. If I am ever published, I will thank Paper Mate in my acknowledgments.

I treated myself to an expensive journal. Eek! It will be a bit of a collage - a place to collect tickets from events and pressed flowers and such. I’ve been eagerly awaiting January 1 so I can begin!

As a pen fan, I get this. I have very specific desires in my writing instrument, and once I find something I like, I stick with it. That said, I always keep trying new ones.
