The Ones Hanging Around
A wee mid-week prompt.
Hi friends.
Just had this little prompt on my mind from when I was in conversation with Karen Russell at Tulane this fall, who is a newly minted finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction. (Congrats also to Angela Flournoy, who contributed a wonderful letter to us earlier this fall.) Karen and I had a deep and very fun time both in the green room and on the stage itself. She’s an open, honest, vulnerable person but also she’s an actual genius, and sparks fly whenever she opens her gorgeous mouth. I am a fan.
Anyway, one of the things we talked about that night seemed like it would be a great trigger for some thinking today.
