Hi friends.
In our post-Mardi Gras Pilates class yesterday our instructor almost immediately gave up on making us work out and instead just had us roll out every last kink from our body with a foam roller for practically the entire hour. For a few minutes I waited for us to have to do some core exercises—I am here to work, I thought with a bit of annoyance—but then I leaned into the massage aspect and was so happy. What if I came to this class not to work out but just to feel better? What does it mean to take a class that teaches you just to relax?
It made me think about a conversation Priyanka and I had (which she wrote about a bit here) about work and taking breaks.
