What Does it Mean to Write Together?

And what does it mean to write on your own?

Eleven days left until 1000 Words of Summer starts. Plenty of time left to donate to it. We are on our way to achieving our goal, but we still need your help.

I have been thinking this week about writing alone versus writing with other people in terms of the 1000 Words project but also as part of a regular practice.

We have talked here before about creating our own at-home writing residencies, and I like that as a take on 1000 Words, creating a special moment in time for yourself where you take your writing extra seriously, without needing the support of an institution to accomplish it.

Recently I met a woman who said she hosted weekly group writing sessions at her house for a few friends.
