The “Lippman residency” — living/office space in a Baltimore city rowhouse in a walkable neighborhood, with an en suite bedroom and access to a full kitchen — welcomes dogs, but you have to be OK with someone working out on the top floor five days a week. (Residents also can join the strength-training workouts if they so desire.)
I also got a "no" this week to a residency I applied for. Knowing that you are getting them with your history and experience makes me feel a bit better about the rejection. You just have to keep putting yourself out there and maybe you'll end up in Key West. :)
i've always wanted to go to key west, and what a perfect time of year! the one meaningful "yes" applies to so many aspects of the literary life. i really hope you enjoy the hell out of this residency and that it gives you the taste for more.
I happen to currently be living in an an oversized house in rural setting about a 20-minute drive from a small city. We have amazing access to walking (300+ acres of high prairie) right out our door. Amazing wildlife watching. Can be seriously windy, fyi. I don't know how long this will be our address, but I've been wanting to share this with other creatures ever since we moved in. I've had some residencies and they were wonderful. So, given the context of your post, I'm putting it out there for folks: if you need a residency in SE Wyoming, hit me up. I'm absolutely serious. We can take solo, pairs, maybe even kids depending...and dogs that aren't super-alphas or really unable to ignore a crotchety, old-ish alpha dog with some rescue emotional baggage. :) (Can discuss your dog case-by-case.) We have an eclectic library, gobs of art supplies, a typewriter, viable internet, a big porch, and a full private bath/bedroom (2-3 rooms, actually) with writing desk options. We might be able to coordinate some carpooling, too, but can't provide a car straight-up. We'd happily share dinners and set you up with the extra fridge so you can manage other meals to suit. If you can get yourself to Fort Collins or better yet, Laramie, WY, we can get you from there! (I *will* probably ask some focused questions and maybe check some references, since we'd be sharing our living space.) Can discuss durations, too.
Welcome back to Key West! Do you want to join me to go see “Nouvelle Vague” at The Tropic this weekend? Happy hour or coffee works too if you’re looking for a break :)

INCREDIBLE. I will point this out to the other paid subscribers in the next letter. Very generous of you! And tempting!!
Great! Let me have a week to get an interest form up, so it's not total mayhem. :)
