Hi friends.
Hello from San Miguel de Allende, where I am having a vacation not of late nights but instead one of gentle collapse and contemplation. I did too much this winter and also this spring and then again this fall and this is what I needed.
I’m staying in a beautiful home with a roof terrace and lots of light, loaned to me by my friends here. (I have been fortunate this year to have friends with empty homes.) In the mornings, I’ve been getting up early like usual, and walking the dog up and down the hills of this city. We sit in the park for a while, where I write in my little notebook. Then the day can begin.
After the walk, the dog immediately sleeps
The park I like here is Parque Benito Juárez, which is quiet in the mornings as the art vendors set up their wares. I sit in a small square near a fountain that does not function except for a small burbling stream of water from its center. This morning, a woman yelled at me from across the square that she loved my dog. I thanked her and said, “Me too.” Later I saw a cat on a leash meandering through the paths with its owners.
I swear this is all going to lead to a writing prompt for you. Just wait.
