"My book is definitely not good right now" thank you. I am on my second day of a residency that I am grateful for but that came before I had really started or even organized this book at all, and I have like three pages and they are pretty bad and I am LOST AT SEA without oars. Somehow this clause, the simplicity and certainty of it, has made me feel ready to work today. Because it's not good right now, but it will be someday. I will build oars out of my boat and I will row.
I will make you feel even better now because a friend of mine who just finished her novel, as in turned it in, edits done and everything, told me yesterday, "Mine was TERRIBLE almost until the end." So we may have to just deal with that feeling, but know that the good feeling will eventually come.
I'm so glad you referenced Dodai Stewart's remarkable essay. Very moving, as you say. It did jump start some ideas I didn't realize I still had in me, some things definitely started percolating.
Hi Jami, I'd love to read the essay about Paris you've written about today. When I click on the link, though, the headline comes up under the NYT masthead, but I can't seem to get the gift article.

Oh I'm so glad to hear that! Glad it got you writing!
Where is your event with Genevieve Hudson? I'd love to come!
Both events are at Literary Arts!
Good luck at Ragdale, Jami! I can’t make it this time, but StoryStudio has such great programming to have you twice (and maybe more? 😊) in a year!
Love Dodai Stewart’s essay. Thank you for sharing, Jami!

It works for me, sorry I don't know what else to do!
That essay took me to a Paris vastly different than the one I visited in 2019 with my 88 y/o dad. Such grace in her words.
