This is exactly what I needed today. Thank you. My mood heading into the new year and my mantra throughout: “This is the year I go all in on me and my work, and I give it every last ounce of my creative self to make something fucking brilliant.” Let’s do this.
Wonderful to wake up to this post while the house was still quiet, with the new day still ahead and absorb these ideals as I think about the ideals I want to set for myself. Reading #1000 in 2024 was such a game changer for me, I just want to keep that momentum going into 2025 and do even MORE. Hope to catch you at Vroman's when you make it out to LA in a couple of weeks. Wishing you and yours all the best for an amazing and productive 2025!
as always, thanks for the inspiration Jami. I will be writing this weekend at a retreat at Ragdale in Lake Forest, IL. Looking forward to time to myself to let those creative juices flow. It's all about self-care and seeing that my soul gets what it needs. And of course #1000words!
Wading through the muck hoping to emerge with a gem. YES. Thanks for putting this process into such precisely accurate words. And for all you do to make us feel less alone on this wild, daunting path, Jami!
That unicorn! I'm liking the idea of hand-writing in the am & typing in the pm. That physicality of pen & notebook, a part of me for 65 years, might change things up for me. December is always a tough time of year to get writing done; hoping for a fresh reconnect.
I was accepted to a generative writing workshop so I’ll be busy with that in January and February. My 2025 writing goal is to finish my novel revision.
I love the idea of hand-writing first. I am in the process of gathering everything I need for the Mini 1000 Words. Thank you for the inspirational post!
The graph after the pix of the unicorn. YES! Thanks for that. I'm copying/pasting in my journal. Thanks, Jami. Happy New Year. We're not done yet. See you on Friday.
Doubling down on writing my editing tips for writers from a book editor, which I now see as a hybrid self help & memoir... but can I make it work? I think I can!

I hope you're OK. Know you're sad for your adopted city xo
