As usual, your message hit the perfect note for me at this time. I missed my June deadline for really good reasons: a flood, evacuation, insurance battles, on and on. We are back home and I am ready to return to My novel in progress.

I will give a restart my best attention. I'll sign up for the mini and determine a new end-of-year deadline. Thanks Jami. BTW yesterday on my birthday I finished reading Just Kids by Patti Smith. Such a moving tribute beautifully crafted. I seeped at the end.

Excellent. I like these ideas because it's almost like you're sneaking up on the writing. When I approach it head-on, I often freeze up.

I love how your mind created and developed a whole café full of characters/friends. I’m going to try that. And thanks as always for thinking out loud.

Lovely post and great advice for writing craft. I’m eager to sit at my writing table with this approach to call in my muse. With gratitude.

I have a character (from one of my novels-in-progress) who is an amazing coffee companion. But because of the workload and anxiety attacks, I abandoned her. Which was very stupid. I'll write her a letter (she hates phone calls and sms) and kindly ask her to come to my rescue...
