Great work, everyone! I managed to edit four pages and I am feeling satisfied for the day. If I keep it up at this pace I should be able to print out a complete draft that I will not mind looking at by the end of #1000wordsofsummer.

Thrilled to begin! It is a rainy day here in NW New Jersey. I have zero set plans except… writing and reading and enjoying each moment as best as I can.

Woke up early and got in 568 before my kids got up. Made some notes and I know where to go for the next 500 later this afternoon. I’m feeling energized and ready and that’s something I haven’t felt in awhile.

I started waking up to write before my kids woke up, back when they were small...and swear to god it was like they could *smell* me. they'd come toddling out at 530AM, full of beans and ready for breakfast. Blergh.

Oh yes they can. It never fails. Now luckily my oldest (and worst sleeper) is a pre-teen and sleeping more/later. Also, why is it that they fight waking up for school but get up chipper as all hell at 6AM on the weekends?!

Congratulations! I can't wait until my kids to wake up after me, I miss those peaceful early starts. Today I had to wait until they had gone to bed!

Yeah, it takes awhile. Mine are 11 and 8 and I’m just able to wake up before them. And that’s only because I’m waking up at 5:30AM. 😅

Oof. This was a rockier start than I'd hoped for, BUT I have my 1030 words and my plan for tomorrow.

Let's hope I get back into the swing of things sooner rather than later!

I read the beginning out loud in first person. Thank you - midlife single mom with a kid in college needs this before she starts her MFA in Creative Writing in 81 days!!!! 💯✍️👩‍💻

ready to WRITE after a month of travel and exploration. Heading over to the Farmer's Market in Printer's Row (Chicago) and will write in my friend's loft as he has graciously left me key for June & July. Yay!

I did not make it to 1000, but I had already decided that my objective was to start my story and to keep on until I felt it was a good first day, and then resolve NOT to feel bad about stopping. Methodology (I love this stuff): First sentence of each day/chapter written in new Blackwing black notebook with their new gold pencil; the rest typed into a file on my laptop in Morris Golden type and Morris Ornaments when needed (William Morris is one of my heroes). Good fortune to all of us.

1090. This is my second #1000wordsofsummer and it already feels different. I'm less afraid, more committed, delighted and amazed by discovery. Such a joy to be here with all of you.

I love you back! I was thinking about chickening out and continuing to revise instead of writing new words, but today's prompt has inspired me to be less of a chicken. Thank you!

Thrilled to start today, joined by my 27 year old daughter, also a writer who is now also my accountability buddy. We plan to check in later. I wrote 500 words by 8:30 am. Planning to walk to the store to get some breakfast food and write another 500 later this morning or early this afternoon.
