Today you will write 1000 words. Because you want to make something cool with your brain and your fingers, write something beautiful and distinct and unique. Because there is a magic and electricity to creating a story from scratch, and it is within your reach to do it. There is so much power in those 1000 words! You can create something special. Today.
Y'all, do not sleep on this merch!!! Every time I wear my yellow crewneck sweatshirt from last year, I get compliments and questions. It's a great conversation starter, and it's comfortable, too!
Thank you so much for inviting me to take part Jami. I'm so glad we met on that fateful day in Galway! And I want to take you for all your hard work on this and all you do for other writers. Hope to see you in person before too long. x
“Time, distractedness and the internet are the enemy. Ideas are not.” What a delightful way to start my day after journaling my regret of being 700 words short yesterday & wondering when I would find time to make up 300 words today. The prospect of tucking snippets into the here & now gives me hope that I’ll be able to finish my day accomplished! 🤞🫶
“Lean into the pale pink fizz of 4pm...” plug in the hour and enjoy the fizz when the story comes together. This is advice I am now telling myself. Thank you so much. 😘
Oh, how I relate to her discussion of the "green hour," just as she says that moment that is captured at the very end of a futile-feeling day when something clicks at last. Often just when all the other demands crowd in. And to not give up when the rest of the time is a desert. The "clock of creativity" is such a provocative concept, something I'll keep mulling over.
