I played with different transitions and layouts for my graphic narrative piece. trying to figure out how much detail is really necessary.

I had to bake a pie today and didn't drink any coffee and had to see my in-laws and yet I still wrote my 1000 words. Thank you for keeping me going.

I think that, for the rest of the time, I’ll jump into writing a novella to introduce my new series. Will give me some space from the draft.

What an inspiring letter from Karen Russell. Thank you. And that word, as so many others have commented on: "velleity" I know it. I have lived with it for too long. Goals & accountability. It's mid-afternoon here and I'm diving into my #1000 for the day. After yoga and before the neighborhood walk (when the dogs are out).

Oh, that yoga mat image!

I not only made my 1000 word goal today. I broke through a chunk of the story I've been stuck on for weeks. I have no other explanation than being inspired by this community, all of you.

Day 2 done! Another tough parenting day, where the writing would never normally get done if it wasn't for this challenge. And we now have a streak to keep. Onwards!

Oh, such a generous and heartfelt letter from Karen Russell. Thank you, Jami and Karen. That word: VELLEITY. It made me feel so sad. It had such a ring of abandonment to it...for my writing...for myself. I am on target with words for this second day. The goal magic and accountability are real things, and today I got to thinking about whether my volition is puny and lukewarm or mighty and hot like ancient lava. May the energy of this community cauldron conjure up a volcano for me!

I feel like the little baby novel writer inside me just grew two inches taller after reading this letter full of so much wisdom. The tidbit on ambition vs. desire is so spot on and something that I've been grappling with for many years. I really appreciate you finding the words, Karen, and sharing them with us, Jami!

Oooo, that bit about Velleity (a new-to-me word) hit. "The wanting is the work," indeed. A helpful reminder that accountability can keep the needle moving. Thanks for this!
