1,085. To paraphrase Meatloaf, three out of three ain’t bad. I can feel the rhythm of the exercise beginning to grow, all the positive feelings you get from successfully completing another day. Hope everyone else is feeling it too.
Freedom to play and see where the process takes you! I randomly (or so it seemed to me) connected my 1,000 words a day practice to an index card a day art project where I tell the stories of people who are unsung heroes in their community (and sketch their portrait). It's a project I naturally fell into... Meaning it was right in front of me as an opportunity but wasn't planned. Only the convergence of two challenges (1000 words of summer and index card a day which both started 6/1) is what got me here to day 3! And now I realize I'm creating a directory of sorts of people who wouldn't otherwise have their story told here on Substack or on social media (for many reasons not to mention insufficient internet access or data plans in East Africa to upload any of their own content). I'm finding that there is power in telling and using my platform to tell other people's stories (with their permission of course). It's not easy to tell our own story.
TIMS OF THE WORLD UNITE!!!

Aaaah! This one really resonated with me. Play! And so I did, 1,851 words.
