Mmmm thank you for this, Priyanka and Jamie! It hits so close because I've JUST decided (at the age of 43) to dedicate myself and my career fully to writing after faffing about with everything BUT writing because I was too scared to go for it. Somehow this 1,000 words journey and some really clear signals from the Universe have given me the strength to say yes to what I always wanted to say yes to... so I'm deeply holding her three tips in my heart and head. Many thanks!!

Priyanka's reminders really hit home for me.  I am lucky to be one of Jami's neighbors and when I bumped into her at a neighborhood party about a week before June 1st. I knew it was time for me to take on #1000wordsofsummer. I started with no idea what I was going to write. My brain is definitely a junk drawer I am sorting through. More than anything I have learned that I can do this. Thanks Jami!

Exactly the right advice at precisely the right moment: the whole point of art...is for the artist to lay down our feelings somewhere in the hopes that someone will pick them up and recognize themselves in it...etc.

Thank you Priyanka!

Aaah! One of the best parts of this project is discovering new-to-me authors. I love what Priyanka Mattoo said about geting weird, it's something I think about a lot: "But the thoughts were next to each other, and if I’m not sitting here muttering ‘I sound insane, this is the end of my career’ while I type, I’m not doing it right." 2,131 words today, very weird and making up for a skipped day. Happy Sunday!

Yes! My BRAIN/MIND is a junk drawer. Maybe two. Infinite rummaging! Anyway, I've been struggling to keep up with #1000words and today I thought, OK, maybe it's cheating a little, but when I've been away from my computer I've used a small notebook and there are 4000 words there so why don't I spend today typing them into the draft, and then--I wrote 1000 NEW words in addition to putting and reviewing handwritten ones, so it's been a productive day after all. And wishing the same for all of you!

That last paragraph was very much needed today, so thank you. 1,073 words. I had to drag them out of myself today but I’m glad I persevered.
