LFG, as they say (who says? not sure, but I think it is a thing that is said). In anticipation, have already started. Historical fiction about Edith Wharton: middle-aged, virgin, menopausal, embarking on a hotAF affair with a bisexual journalist (hashtag cad), while also cranking out not 1, not 2, but THREE brilliant novels during the same period. Hashtag squad goals, people.

Congratulations on launching this year on our 56th anniversary! Such a great project for so many people!!!

the great thing about reading Jami is that we get inspiration, craft coaching, and a belly laugh! Warming up with review and light revisions of existing chapters. Will be ready for the sprint of drafting final chapters with the #1000wordsofsummer community.

Determined. PS: Maybe I’ll post one note / day here for my own accountability 👀

You can! But also I recommend checking in on the slack, too, where there will be more activity and community.

I just signed up for the newsletter especially for 1000 words of summer. The slack invite link on the Everything You Need to Know page said to ask for a new invite. Where can I get mine?

Oh right! Thank you for a reminder 👍

Forgive my ignorance. What's "on the slack" mean? Is it a platform I can get to easily? Will I need a GPS or is there like an automatic "beam me up" link? Thank you. ~Karen FitzGerald~

Maybe you've already answered this, but are we "supposed to" (I say this loosely) use the hashtag? To drive readership, and to connect with the others who are doing the #1000wordsofsummer? As far as I know, Substack does not use hashtag technology (ha ha - I say in jest). But seriously...I'm a little confused/uninformed about HOW we're going to show that our writing (if it's here on Substack) is in line with and FOR this challenge.

It seems maybe you're promoting it here, but that we can write anywhere we want to - online, in a paper or Word document journal, wherever - but we'll maybe be connecting with other #1000wordsofsummer-ers somehow...to discuss the practice?

Does that make sense? Feel free to ask me Qs to clarify my Q. :D

If you want to connect with people you can, on whatever form of social media you use. Sometimes people like to get support, or give support. There's the slack where people seem to talk a lot, and there's twitter where people use the hashtag the most. Sometimes people post on instagram. If you feel like you want to connect that's great! The point of it all truly is for you to write those 1000 words a day, for yourself. There's no one you have to prove it to but yourself. I'm not concerned with driving readership. I'm concerned with people writing. :)

Love it. Thank you for taking time to acknowledge me and answer my Qs. :) You are grand.

I get the connect part - that will be via Slack. On it.

I guess I’ll use the hashtag here, though I doubt it’ll be active, such as it would on Facebook or Instagram. (Right?) 😊😅😁

Substack is basically where I send out the letters. I don't use it for much else, to be honest. I read people's comments, that's about it. I would highly suggest trying out the slack if you would like to connect with people. There are more than 4000 people registered for it.

Yes, thanks. I'm signed in and connected. That's a LOT of people....quite a reach. I love that you've inspired so many people to write; awesome!

Looking forward to it — and just joined the Slack!

I am looking for the Slack group. It says my email (the same I'm using here on Subtack) was not detected. I've used Slack for work, but how/where do I get connected to this group's Slack? Thanks - Heather

Oh yes, I now see the Slack link she had in her original post. Doh! (Funny how we don't see things that are right there, because we're slightly panicking that we don't know something...) Thank you for helping me. :)

I completely understand — happy to help!

Maybe you can help me. : ) When I click the link on the info page, it says I need to ask for a new invite link. Is there an updated link for this year?
