Hi friends. I’m three months out from publishing my book this week. The last time I published a book was fall 2019 when things were still the way they were and I just hit the road for a few months and never looked back. I did have a paperback come out fall 2020 but I think I did just two online events, the smallest of gestures, and even one would have been just fine. At the time I just thought: I just thought: Well, it exists, and it had a nice life already. And I am alive, so is everyone I love, and for that I am grateful. So go with god, dear paperback.
I pre-ordered your book through my local indie. They called me afterwards and were like "uhh we accidentally deleted your credit card info sorry lol" and it was just so charming and bumbling. I hope bookstores never change.
Jami, i just wanted to say that i started following 1000 words of summer ages ago, but over the past two years, your newsletters have been the most helpful, compassionate resource i could have hoped for as i was writing my own memoir. i had so many questions about cuts, revisions, titles that i couldn't turn to anyone around me for; i live in hong kong, i have no MFA, i've never been to NYC. whenever i felt stuck and needed advice, i knew i could return to your emails, and i did that over and over. i'm so, so thankful and i can't wait to read your book when it's out!

Thanks Jami for sharing your vulnerability with us. I’ll be in Brooklyn for your launch and pick up my pre-ordered copy. You can count on it!
