Hi friends. Things feel tough right now. For some of you, it has always felt this way. For some of you, it has always been hard. You have learned by now how to handle it. You have written your way through it. And you will continue to do so. But some of you may feel like you have been sitting in the middle of a slow-moving house fire for months and months, the flames closing in on you, but never quite igniting the room where you sit. It feels the worst it has ever been, and yet, you are waiting for something even worse to happen. You think: How could I possibly write right now?
This comment is not *super* relevant to this post, but I'm wondering if you have any quick advice on how to receive/incorporate notes from a first-reader. For examp: I just let a friend read my entire manuscript--she's the first to do so--and she gave incredibly helpful feedback, but now I'm like how do I even BEGIN to work these into the document without disturbing the flow that's already there? Like do you bullet out specific changes to be made or maybe just keep in mind their notes while doing another pass/edit? I feel grateful for notes but overwhelmed. I'd love to hear your method. Thanks!
I wrote this morning about slow-motion drowning. You picked fire. Same feeling I reckon. Thanks for the encouragement.
Thank you! Needed this to plod through my novel synopsis!
Your posts are always so thought-provoking. Thank you.
